Spooks / MI-5...

...is back! Series 5 kicked off last night with a two-part episode which will finish tonight.

Lots of new faces, new plots and surprises. This has always been one of my favorite shows and runs neck-and-neck with 24 for a realistic action-suspense drama.

I love this show and I'm so glad it's back. It will take me a while to warm up to the new cast (there is a constant stream of cast changes in this series) as I don't even know their names yet, or anything about their family and home life. That's important for me to connect with people. I want to know about home and family. Without that, they're just hard-working drones to me, like the Borg.

This is one of the reasons I favour Crossing Jordan over CSI, and Monk over Law & Order.

I came to Spooks quite late, only getting on board last season, but soon caught up thanks to the brilliant DVD sets which, script-heads, contain the shooting scripts to every single episode. Yummy.

I enjoyed last night's episode, despite being even more outrageously far-fetched than usual, and look forward to tonight's wrap up. More dead cast members, eh? No wonder MI-5 are recruiting, as Kudos have been: there's an interesting piece by one of the writers on the new season - Spook's first female scribe - here
