Now American Television is going to adapt ELEVENTH HOUR, a series from ITV originally starring Patrick Stewart.
It will be produced for CBS by no less than Jerry Bruckheimer.

I wonder how much will remain after it's been Bruckheimerized?
(The premise for 11th Hour is based in the same realm as CSI and other Bruckheimer shows. The storylines feature a government scientist investigating crimes and crises based on science - i.e. illegal cloning, viral outbreaks, etc...)

The thing that scares me is the thought that it's being pitched in the trades as the successor to The X-Files.
I'm hoping they're wrong. Cos what it needs to be is House or CSI with Science.
The Bruckheimer/Cannon connection gives me hope. We'll see.

But if Eleventh Hour airs in Canada, I'll probably watch, if only to see the masterful Patrick Stewart in action.

The aim of Eleventh Hour was always supposed to be that it would stay this side of the speculative line... no new drugs, no new diseases, nothing that couldn't have happened for real within the past 24 hours. In fact one of my memos pointed the producers to ReGenesis as a good example of a speculative science thriller, to help explain the distinction.
