Absolutely, totally agree. And from a marketing standpoint, it's brilliant: a contemporary b-movie maker re-making the ultimate cult movie - even the people who are saying it's a dumb idea will end up seeing it.
This is PRECISELY the sort of thing Asylum should be doing - hell, they could even do Plan 9, themselves. It's in the public domain...
