Those Damnable Scots!

In response to Denis McGrath's post about the not-so-funny Scotsman up in Canada:

Here's the reason we find the Scots (and golf) so funny...

Well that's typical.

"Video cannot be viewed outside the United States."

This from the corporation that brings you the internet, sanitized for the Chinese government's protection.

Remember when "information wanted to be free?"

Google Video sucks. Long live YouTube.

Carry on with what you were, uh...

Oh my God, don't do that! You don't know where it's been!

Damn, that was funny! I love Robin Williams. Thanks for that, Bill.

Okay, that's better.
Now sadly that is actually funny, which invalidates what I was talking about.. because the truth is that many things can be funny with an accent involved.

i mean, jebus, read some of those monty python scripts WITHOUT the plummy English accent and it's just not funny.

Oh really? Then why, when you did them as a teen, did you do them with the accent?

Robin williams' bit is doing the scots accent in the service of being funny; something that I fully support and something Craig Ferguson does every night.

What I wrote about is the peculiar canadian thing of scottish accent standing in for funny, as in no other funny necessary. Weird.
