I have seen the future of movies & it is Webisodes.

It's not the future - it's the here and now.

Fracking awesome.

Simply awesome.

We are about to see rapid and amazing advancement in the webisode sector. It's been percolating for a long time but in my opinion the Battlestar Galactica is the first thing that viewers and industry types are going to take SERIOUSLY.

Also, I think Apple is about to launch something big related to internet video next week. Nothing is certain but based on their promos for the event, with Hollywood style spotlights proclaiming "It's Showtime," I think the rumors of video stuff might have some credence.

Apple is going to start offering movies on its itunes store at $9.99 a pop. They are also coming out with a bigger screen ipod and wireless applications so you can download the movie then beam it to your tv.

Still a bit expensive in my opinion.

$9.99 is a bit steep for me too, but it will be amazing if they can pull off a standardized price. I had heard $14.99 which is definitely too high.

At the same time, I'm not really the market for these downloadable movies. Because I will probably buy or rent the dvd, rip it and save it for later. The thing that will be exciting to me is if Apple can get people hooked on watching video on iPods.

I can see a lot of potential in video podcasting previews or excerpts from movies and then pointing people to a link to "Download the whole movie for $9.99!" or "Buy it on DVD with special features and a fancy box for $19.99!"

I just think there is a lot of potential and I am excited that Apple is pushing it forward.

Hmmm...I've made 15 attempts over the past two days to watch the first webisode and it just won't play for me. Bummer!

Very cool--but we gotta wait another month for the actual series to start?

Bummer.

Aric - smack yourself on the back of the head.

You get two mini episodes per week until the premiere on Oct. 6th. Plus, they will be dropping hints throughout the webisodes of stuff that will come up in season 3.

You will be a rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth fan who has to watch (and has to tell everyone they know about it) by the time the 6th comes around.

And that's exactly what Scifi wants...

It won't play in Firefox or Safari, at work, or at home. :((

They can invent cylons, and found a way to turn trilliom into fuel, but they can't get their webisodes in quicktime :((((((

And I'm the #1 fan of BSG :((((

Jutra, Dude -- it's called YouTube. Use it.

The BSG webisode was reposted there multiple times...
