The Little Mermaid Ain't...

so little.

Disney reported that over 4 million units of the two-disc platinum edition of THE LITTLE MERMAID were sold in stores in the space of a WEEK.
The disc retails at $29.99, so at 4 million units it equals $119,960,000. 65% of that goes back to Disney (give or take a few percentage points to account for the variety of price points that the retailers set)

Now Disney also has a LITTLE MERMAID D2DVD sequel out there too - which will enjoy additional sales because of this release.

Expect another D2DVD sequel to be announced... I'm just sayin'

Hi Bill,
This post covers a question I was going to throw to you anyway. I have a 7 year old daughter so Barbie movies are a high priority for her. What we've noticed is over here, Barbie movies follow a pattern, show on a Sunday, released on a Monday, no theatre release at all.
Do you think they do this because it is just not worth their while to worry about a theatre release and they can make enough of a return by following this method. Perhaps they think there are too many animated movies out to bother about competing? I am not sure if those Barbie movies(which seem to appear fairly regularly)are shown in theatres over in the US.

Just found it interesting and wanted to see the Mad Pulp Bastard discuss Barbie :)
cheers
Dave

I just want to say that The Little Mermaid is way cuter than Pocahontas or that whore from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

And Mulan.

Yeah. F-in Mulan.

But none of them are quite so hot as Cruella DeVille.

HOT.
