Jack is Back!

I've just finished watching the first four episodes of the new season of 24...

OMG!!!!!!!

This WILL BE a must-have DVD set for anyone who watches the adventures of CTU Special Agent Jack Bauer. The premise is nail-biting and done with such style that it works, and works well. The 24 team have really raised the bar...

yes, something's happened, they've really struck gold. Don't watch the show, really, but it's out there in the zeitgeist...

Can't wait!!!!! Love that show. It's dear to our Canuck hearts because so many of our fellows work on the show, it could practically be CanCon.

As an aside, I am liking this whole application of specific times and a show taking place in a day, or a week or whatever. It frames it nicely, both on air and in how you arc the story.

I don't know if anyone has been watching BIG DAY, the comedy take on this idea, but it's actually pretty darn good. Stellar cast, which helps (Marla Sokoloff, Wendie Malick). The writing's tight, and the humour is really quite funny.

If you haven't seen it, the premise is that the show takes place on the wedding day of Danny and Alice. The supporting characters are the parents, attendants, crazy neighbours, and the wedding planner. Every episode is a new disaster, and a new family crisis, because the wedding is being held at the home of the parents.

Not sure what they plan to do if there is a season two, but there are options. You could follow the wedding of the bride's sister/maid of honour. Or you could meet a whole new wacky family if you just follow the wedding planner Lorna.

It's fun, though.

Sorry to have hijacked your 24 post, Bill. It was a stream of consciousness thing, and it's been on my mind for a while and nobody else has really talked about it.

It hasn't even aired yet -- and you've already seen it!? How? Jon Cassar is a friend of mine and even I couldn't get a copy of that four-hour premier if I had begged, blackmailed or blowjobbed.

This is SO NOT fair. :-(

You're like the eighth person to say that about this season of 24. I think my anticipation has built up to the point that I'm just going to throw up a soon as the beepy clock starts ticking.

Emily - have several bags ready - it's that good. That taut of a storyline. Well thought out, and I love the fact it's airing in 2 two hour blocks tonight and tomorrow.

Caroline - yes, the crew from LA FEMME NIKITA have graduated.

I've seen some episodes of Big Day and I thought they would have a great 2nd season at the reception, then the honeymoon, first child, etc...it's a good story template.

It was fantastic. Very enjoyable. And a bold move to counter program and second half opposite the Golden Globes.

It gets better.

Programming it against the GG's will split Los Angeles in half, but it will do fantastic in other cities.

You did not lie. Fan-tastic.

Wouldn't it be great if we had two hours of 24 every week?
