The Look of Frank Miller's SIN...er, THE SPIRIT

For those of you who keep up with such things, this is similar to the look I envision for THE SKULL, except with taller Metropolis-style buildings blotting out the landscape. So much so that the foundations of the city itself are a world of perpetual night lit only by video billboards, spotlights and neon...

I'm not convinced, but I think there's a chance for this to stand on its own, visually.

All of the initial trailers just reeked Sin City, but that may have been just the impact of the total-background-replacement method.

Hopefully.

When the producer said, "There's just nothing out there that looks like this", I was internally giggling and raising my hand, though.

"Excuse me, miss...did you see Miller's first film?"

Robert Rodriguez deserves more credit for the stylistic and amazingly artistic capture & conversion of Sin City from comic book to the film screen.

Its by far the best "artsy" comic book to movie conversion yet. Looks like The Spirit will mimic the same style but probably go further (copies of a concept have it much easier).

I dunno, man. I kind of like my movies to look like movies and my comic books to look like comic books.

I did not care for Sin City so I won't be seeing this.

I long for the day when all movies will look like this. I loved Sin City and I will see this twice and buy the DVD.

But it isn't The Spirit. At all. It's Sin City Superhero, and I wish they'd just call it that.

And I hope someday someone actually makes a movies about The Spirit, cause that's what I really want to see.
